Full Stack Developer — AI Agent Systems
Help build and ship complete AI-powered systems for real clients — full-stack web applications, AI agent orchestration, and production deployments. Understand the entire project, reason through the architecture, build the product, and keep pushing until the system is actually usable in production.
The Role
Subterra Technologies is hiring a Louisiana-based Full Stack Developer to help build and ship complete AI-powered systems for real clients. This is not a narrow frontend or backend role. We need someone who can understand an entire project, reason through the architecture, build the product, integrate AI workflows, deploy it, and keep pushing until the system is actually usable in production. This role is for someone who is comfortable working across modern full-stack software, AI agent orchestration, Claude Code, Codex-style development workflows, Vercel deployments, databases, APIs, and production systems.
What You'll Do
- Build production web applications using modern frontend and backend frameworks.
- Develop AI-powered workflows, agents, dashboards, internal tools, and client-facing platforms.
- Work with tools like Claude Code, OpenAI Codex-style workflows, Vercel, GitHub, Supabase/Neon/Postgres, serverless functions, APIs, and cloud deployment systems.
- Orchestrate AI agents that can reason through tasks, use tools, process documents, generate structured outputs, and support business workflows.
- Take rough client requirements and turn them into working software.
- Understand the full project lifecycle: planning, architecture, implementation, testing, deployment, iteration, and maintenance.
- Debug issues across frontend, backend, database, deployment, authentication, and AI model behavior.
- Work closely with leadership to move fast without sacrificing quality.
Required Experience
We are looking for someone with real ability across the stack:
- Strong JavaScript / TypeScript experience.
- Experience with React / Next.js or similar modern web frameworks.
- Backend development experience with APIs, databases, auth, background jobs, and integrations.
- Experience deploying production systems, preferably with Vercel or similar platforms.
- Comfortable working with GitHub, pull requests, branches, and modern developer workflows.
- Ability to read requirements, understand the business goal, and make good technical decisions.
- Experience using AI coding tools such as Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, or similar agentic development environments.
- Understanding of LLMs, AI agents, prompt engineering, tool use, structured outputs, RAG, or automation systems.
- Ability to work independently and push projects to completion.
Strong Bonus Skills
These are not all required, but they are valuable:
- Experience with Supabase, Neon, Postgres, Prisma, Drizzle, or similar database stacks.
- Experience with OpenAI, Anthropic, Google AI, or local/open-source models.
- Experience building agent orchestration systems or multi-agent workflows.
- Experience with document processing, OCR, embeddings, vector search, or RAG pipelines.
- Experience with Python for AI/backend workflows.
- Experience with Docker, Linux, cloud servers, or self-hosted infrastructure.
- Experience building SaaS products or internal enterprise tools.
- UI/UX judgment and ability to make clean, usable interfaces without constant design direction.
- Familiarity with security, authentication, permissions, and data privacy.
What We're Looking For
The right person is not just a "ticket taker." We need someone who can think through the whole system. You should be able to:
- Take a project from idea to working product.
- Ask the right questions when requirements are unclear.
- Use AI tools intelligently without blindly trusting them.
- Review, test, and fix AI-generated code.
- Move quickly while keeping the system maintainable.
- Communicate clearly about blockers, tradeoffs, and timelines.
- Understand that the end goal is not just code — it is a completed system that works for the client.
Compensation
Compensation will depend on experience, capability, and whether the role is structured as full-time, contract, or contract-to-hire.
Location Requirement
This role is Louisiana-based only. We are not currently hiring offshore or fully out-of-state developers for this position. Preference may be given to candidates who can occasionally meet in person depending on project needs.
